Wingman )))(((, hold yer horses, this place is the fastest growing site on the planet! You have Amrep on one Extreme, Themelvins.net in the middle and mightymelvins on the other extreme, or in no mans land.

This is a bit of a stretch, isn't it? Forgive Schnab, he lives on Mars. So technically he's right. But don't those damned rovers run shtuff up there? I'd assume them a bit more popular than a minor spinoff board of a relatively unpopular board, right?

I have a question about the big board, over there. Am I being hazed, or something? I don't seem to get many responses to anything I post. I get that I'm new, but I get more interaction from other new members than the old-timers. There are exceptions, and I appreciate the members who have acknowledged me. Just wondering. Does this happen to everyone? There is probably an element of what you said being true. There are a handful people who talk to the same few people (mainly older members) yet there are some who are very open and chat to anyone. Although i think it is easy for many to simply converse with those they know and or feel more connected to long term. Having said that when i first signed up on there ('08) i found the place to be remarkably open and friendly. Certainly the most welcoming of online forums i had encountered up to that point. I guess persistence pays off but then it could just be the board going through a relatively quiet patch. Also just because someone doesn't reply doesn't mean you are being ignored. Im sure many still read your posts but just decline to respond. I do that often with lots of threads or posts on there. Either through not being bothered to post or it not being something i feel i want to add to. It doesn't mean i don't still enjoy what people write. I think sometimes it is about others getting a grasp on you as a person too. Often when you feel you know them or their character people will interact with them more. I just had a look at your profile on the board and i actually thought you had only just joined. I hadn't seen that avatar until recently even tho you joined in November. I guess you have changed your av a few times so i think that stops people being more used to seeing you around at first. You don't have to change who you are or anything. People will come around to see you for who you are. All the best.

There are some selective, elitist assholes over there, that's for sure. Nerds.

I've been posting for over 2 years and still feel new sometimes. One thing i've learnt is that moreso than most things in life, forums always exist in the here and now. Sure they have a history filled with tales and past-members but the present is always what matters. People forget what went before and the people that are around in the present ARE the board. You may feel new but for others the people presently signed up are all key.
